Many times, we ask God for a blessing, but we miss or dismiss the vehicle that He chooses to send it through.
In the story of Moses, God asked him, “What is that in thine hand?” Moses had a rod. It seemed ordinary, but it was what God had already placed in his hand. That rod became part of how God demonstrated His power, gave direction, and confirmed the assignment in Moses’ life.
Sometimes, what God wants to use is not far away. It may already be in your hands.
There is a story inside you that has been waiting longer than you know.
Maybe you have felt it, the nudge that comes in the middle of the night, the memory that rises up at unexpected moments, or the quiet sense that what you have lived through was never only for you.
You have survived something. You have been changed by something. And in that survival, in that change, there is a message that may belong to someone else.
But here is where many people pause.
Their thoughts begin to speak louder than what they feel in their spirit. They start questioning the timing. They push the idea far into the future and tell themselves, “Maybe someday.”
Someday, when the children are grown.
Someday, when work slows down.
Someday, when they have the right words.
Someday, when they feel qualified enough.
Someday, when the timing feels perfect.
But sometimes, someday quietly stretches into years, and the story remains hidden longer than it was meant to.
Here is what I want you to understand today: God did not ask Moses if he was ready. Moses told God he was not eloquent, that he was slow of speech and tongue. And God, in His wisdom, still called him forward.
He did not ask Esther if she felt prepared to stand before the king. He placed her in the exact position her moment required and asked her to step into it.
He did not ask Mary if she was ready to carry what she was called to carry. He asked her if she was willing.
Willingness is often the first doorway into obedience.
You do not need a writing degree. You do not need a publishing contract, a large platform, or a perfectly outlined manuscript. You need a yes.
You need the willingness to sit down and begin, gently, imperfectly, faithfully, and trust that the same God who gave you the story will help you tell it with wisdom and grace.
Your story may not be waiting on perfect readiness.
It may simply be waiting on your willing yes.
At Legacy In Print, we walk alongside women of faith who feel called to write their story but do not know where to begin. If that is you, if something in these words is stirring something in your spirit, you are in the right place.
The question may not be whether everything is perfectly ready.
The deeper question is whether your heart is willing to begin.
Could your yes begin with one faithful page?
